The S.K.Y. Mentoring Program

The S.K.Y. Mentoring Program is designed to provide youth with a positive adult role model and life management experiences. As a component of Wayman Community Development Corporation, this program has been making a difference and serving the Jacksonville Community since January 2007.

The S.K.Y. is a community/site-based program that offers innovative mentoring to youth ages six to sixteen. This program builds assets that help youth succeed in school and make positive contributions to the community. The program partners with other city agencies to provide resources to parents. Parents and caregivers are highly encouraged to be active participants with their children when field trips and special events are sponsored by the program.

Through group mentoring activities, personalized goals and fun activities, we empower, enhance and provide an opportunity for the youth we serve to learn, grow and thrive as they discover and unveil the wonders of their remarkable hidden abilities.

Want to be a Mentor? It’s real easy!

Here’s what you need:

– To be at least 18 years or older

– Attend a two-hour basic mentor training session

– Undergo a thorough background screening
